SUMMARY:Ten Things To Know Before You Go
DESCRIPTION:There’s a lot of information out there about planning well and getting our affairs in order. It can be hard to know where to begin! \nIn the lead up to Dying To Know Day\, the team from Belong Club and Dying To Know will run this 2 hour\, online workshop that will help you pull it all together and explore end-of-life planning in an engaging\, accessible way. It will leave you feeling confident in knowing what options are right for you and your family\, whilst recognising the strength of your existing skills and experience. \nOnly 53% of Australians feel able to talk to another family member about end of life. The Ten Things to Know Before You Go workshop gives you the tools for these essential planning conversations to flow easily and productively. \nFrom accessing the legal documents to planning a funeral and understanding palliative care\, this workshop covers all the essentials and helps you navigate ‘what’s next’\, in a relaxed\, supportive learning environment with other people who are looking to plan well. \nPrevious participants have left feeling more empowered with knowledge about navigating different aspects of the end of life system. 80% of participants have reported that they took direct action in end of life planning as a result of the workshop. \nWe will assist you to:  \n\n Plan for the future and ensure your wishes are understood.\n Respond with care when a loved one is grieving.\n Build a support network that prioritises social and emotional wellbeing for end-of-life.\n\nAdditionally\, it’s important to remember that you don’t need to be facing a terminal diagnosis to start planning for end-of-life matters. Preparing in advance can bring peace of mind and ensure that your personal and financial affairs are in order. It’s never too early to make informed decisions\, giving you control over your legacy and easing the burden on your loved ones.   \nJoin us for 10 Things to Know Before You Go to learn more about how to approach these important decisions with confidence.  \n\n

SUMMARY:Dying to Know Day
DESCRIPTION:What’s It All About? \nWe are all impacted by death in our lives. It might be for the people we love\, or it might be our own. \nMcGlynn Hunt Funerals have organised a Dying to Know Day\, held at our premises\, 38-40 Madden Ave\, Mildura on Tuesday\, 5th August. \nD2KD seeks to inspire individuals to prepare for the inevitable not with fear\, but with purpose\, love\, and a focus on legacy. It provides a safe space designed to normalise discussions surrounding death\, dying\, and grief. This initiative encourages individuals to learn about\, engage in\, and plan for their own end-of-life experiences while also supporting others in doing the same. \nWe have invited several guest speakers who will deliver presentations and share valuable insights on end-of-life arrangements. Followed by a Q&A session. \nAttendees are encouraged to participate in an open discussion with both the speakers & MHF staff. Additionally\, visitors are invited to tour our facilities. \nTogether\, we can break down the stigma and sense of awkwardness associated with conversations about death\, dying and grief.

Sarah would love to see families and communities get more involved in the care of their dead\, at home when possible\, working through any fear and embracing this process as a natural part of life. \nFaye Woodward is a funeral director and celebrant based in Katoomba.  She was drawn to the death care industry after the sudden loss of her father and felt a deep calling to support others in navigating the death of a loved one.  Faye empowers families to honour the lives of their people in whatever ways feel right – every life is unique and their funeral can be too.  With a background as an environmental practitioner\, Faye is passionate about sustainable death care options and offers guidance to those seeking a more natural or eco-friendly farewell. \nAmy Firth is an Interfaith Minister\, Celebrant\, and Funeral Director born & raised in the Blue Mountains. With over 20 years’ experience in theatre\, music\, and the arts\, she brings creativity\, compassion\, and a deep sense of presence to every ceremony she crafts. SUMMARY:Death Cafe - Frenchs Forest NSW
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Death Cafe this Dying to Know Day eve. A gathering where people come together to discuss death and dying in a relaxed\, informal setting\, often over refreshments like tea and cake. It’s not a bereavement support group or counseling session\, but rather a space for open\, non-judgmental conversations about mortality\, end-of-life planning\, and related topics. The goal is to increase awareness of death to help people live more fully in the present. \nDying to Know Day has been a national day of action since 2013\, originally on August 8 extending throughout the month of August. Hundreds of hosts around Australia hold gatherings aimed to normalise conversations about death\, dying and grief\, encouraging individuals to learn about\, discuss\, and plan for their own end-of-life\, and to support others in doing the same. We welcome these meaningful conversations in any location or setting. \nBring a cuppa and enjoy a sweet treat on us this Dying to Know Day (eve). \n\n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n\n \n \n Registration has filled for this event.
