SUMMARY:Matters of Life and Death Cafe
DESCRIPTION:“What is your Matters of Life and Death Cafe?“??? \nIt sounds rather odd\, right? Matters of Life and Death.  Believe it or not\, it has become a space for people to come together and have honest and direct conversations about death stuff. \nThe common topics are \n\n“What to do when?”\n“What is an Advanced Care Plan\, and what does it do?”\n“What happens to me after I have gone? Where does the body go?”\n“What types of celebrations can I have? or How can I be loved and remembered. “\n\nSo many other questions\, and some are a lot more personal too. \nIt’s not a counselling space.\nIt’s not a grief group.\nIt’s a welcoming space for people to meet and connect. \nIt’s a space to ask questions\, explore concerns\, apprehension and fears. \nA space to dream of what could be\, and get ideas of what to do\, especially for the funeral/wake/life celebration. \nLet’s face it\, too many people are not comfortable talking about death\, planning their own death or wanting to know more about the life options available to them. \nThere are sooooooooo many ways to do death and farewells.\nYou can design or create anything that aligns with your personality and your wishes.\nYOU need to talk about it and don’t leave your loved ones clueless and guessing!!! \nPlease join us at The Redcliffe Treehouse. Ask all the questions you’re dying to know about. \nTo be honest\, it is a Self-care and loving act for your family and friends\, taking the guesswork out of a very stressful time.  Just think\, it could easily be your last hoora\, and you can plan it down to the smallest detail\, if you choose to.

It can be hard to know where to begin! \nThis 2 hour\, in-person workshop by Danni Petkovic (Campaign Manager for Dying to Know) will help you pull it all together and explore end-of-life planning in an engaging\, accessible way. It will leave you feeling confident in knowing what options are right for you and your family\, while recognising the strength of your existing skills and experience. \nOnly 53% of Australians feel able to talk to another family member about end of life. SUMMARY:Financial Support Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Breast Cancer Care WA is proud to host this informative\, pragmatic webinar with experienced oncology social worker\, Shirley Witco. \nCancer and ongoing treatment can place financial barriers and cause extra financial strain in a person’s life. Even more so for people living in rural and remote locations. Shirley will discuss potential options for income and assistance and how to access these. This will include Centrelink\, superannuation and insurance\, financial grants\, charities and emergency relief. While everyone who is interested is welcome to attend\, this webinar will be most relevant for people living with metastatic/advanced cancer\, their loved ones\, and health professionals. \nShirley has been a health social worker since completing her Bachelor of Social Work in 2005 and has spent the majority of her career to date working in cancer care. She worked for 15 years at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth supporting cancer patients and their families in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Shirley moved regionally in 2021\, taking the role of the senior social worker with the Kimberley Integrated Cancer Service team. Based in Broome\, she supports patients and families from around the Kimberley region through treatment (delivered locally and travelling to Perth) and into survivorship/surveillance. \nShirley is also an active member of Oncology Social Work Australia New Zealand (OSWANZ) which is an organisation supporting and educating social workers to enhance psychosocial services to people with cancer and their families. \n
