SUMMARY:Farewell Tour Live At Carriageworks
DESCRIPTION:An epic love story of a band where every song is their last.\n\nAn ambient psych-rock band centred on themes of love\, joy\, death\, and loss\, Farewell Tour is a cathartic response to grief. Incorporating field recordings\, guitars and vocals\, the band’s entire existence is a continuous drawn-out goodbye\, bringing a unique urgency and finality to every performance and recording. Through their practice they engage with their mortality and build dialogue in this fragile and often hidden aspect of everyday life.

SUMMARY:Dying to Know - Start the Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Dying to Know is a national campaign inspiring people to prepare for the inevitable – not with fear\, but with purpose\, care\, and a clear sense of legacy. \nThis year’s theme is Nobody Knows. \nNobody Knows is a cheeky\, irreverent campaign designed to expose the absurdity of keeping your end-of-life wishes a secret. Because not telling anyone your final wishes is chaotic\, confusing\, and worst of all creates guesswork and potential family division. \nVincentia Connections is offering an opportunity for you to start a conversation. \nFuneral celebrant\, Annette Tesiero\, is discussing all the things you might ask a funeral director or celebrant. \nCoordinator from the Worrigee Cemetery\, Jessica Willshire is discussing the most up-to-date options for burial and cremation. \nLocal counsellor Jane Daisley-Snow is providing information about writing an Advanced Care Plan. \nYou will have opportunity to ask questions\, and we’ll have helpful resources available.

SUMMARY:Picture It Said: The Legacy Lounge
DESCRIPTION:Turning untold stories into physical snapshots you can hold and pass on. \nWe all have them—small objects tucked away in drawers or sitting on shelves that carry immense weight: a cracked pocket watch\, a handwritten recipe card an old brass key or a polished stone. They hold memories of people and moments we never want to forget\, yet the stories behind them often go unshared until it’s too late. \nJoin us for a cosy\, intimate morning dedicated to slowing down and breaking the taboo around memory\, legacy and what we pass on as part of the national Dying to Know Day campaign. \nWhat to Expect: \n\nThe Story Circle (45 mins): Sitting in a relaxed circle in our residents lounge\, each participant will share a brief\, 3-minute story about a meaningful physical object they brought along. No public speaking experience required—just a space to listen and be heard.\nCoffee\, Pastries & Mingle: Enjoy some coffee\, chilled juice and pastries while we catch our breath and connect.\nThe Polaroid Keepsake & Dedication: During the mingle block\, we’ll take an individual Polaroid photo of you holding your object. You’ll flip it over and write a dedicated message to a loved one on the back using a quick-dry permanent marker—creating a personal keepsake to take home.\n\nWhat to Bring: \nPlease bring one small\, meaningful physical object that holds a personal memory\, value or connection to someone you cherish. \nPractical Details: \n\nCapacity: Strictly limited to 15 participants to maintain an intimate\, cosy atmosphere. With just 15 seats in our circle\, every spot is precious. If you find you can no longer join us\, please release your spot as early as you can so we can welcome someone else.\nDate & Time: Saturday\, August 29th\, starting promptly at 10am (Arrivals from 09.50am).\nLocation: Residents Lounge (Vantage Apartments\, 60 Riversdale Road\, Rivervale). Free parking is available at Cracknell Park.\nSupport & Care: Exploring legacy can bring up deep reflections. Every guest will receive a complimentary takeaway Support & Next Steps Resource Sheet featuring independent mental health services\, grief support and advance care planning portals.\n\nHosted on behalf of Sorin\, a project focused on family legacy preservation and story stewardship. This is a strictly non-commercial community gathering; there are no sales pitches or commercial promotions and participation is offered as a free public contribution to Dying to Know Day.

SUMMARY:Create Your Own Paper Sacred Cloth - a sustainable death care workshop
DESCRIPTION:What to expect: \nJoin death educator Bonita Ralph and artist Anzara Clark for a unique hands-on workshop exploring creativity\, ritual\, and after-death care through the medium of traditional Korean paper textile techniques. \nThroughout the day\, you’ll create a handmade cloth (approximately 1.8 x 0.8 metres) that can be used to honour someone after death\, accompany them for burial or cremation\, or become a treasured family heirloom for generations of caring for the dead. \nCombining guided design\, paper textile making\, quiet reflection\, and a demonstration of respectful shrouding practices\, this workshop offers a thoughtful space to explore mortality\, meaning\, and care through creativity. \nThis is a physically active workshop involving standing\, sitting and sustained use of the hands and upper body (think kneading bread for about an hour). If you have any access requirements\, please let us know. \nYou can explore more about Anzara’s paper cloth work and techniques on her website www.anzaraclark.com \nSnacks and Lunch is provided. Please note any dietary requirements in the registration. \nWhat to bring: \nWe invite you to bring any paper items you would like to add to your cloth. Some examples are: sheet music\, pages from books\, poetry\, letters\, writings. Please note that card and thick paper do not work. You could also write on your cloth during the process to incorporate words – we will have markers for this. \nPlease think about symbols\, colours or themes that are important to you or the person you are making this cloth for. (once completed\, this cloth can be added to over time with embroidery\, markers etc). \nBe flexible and adaptable to the process changing or not working as intended. As in life and death\, this cloth may surprise you. \nPlease wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Often the dye from paper runs so that will stain your hands temporarily and perhaps clothing. BYO apron if you like. \nBYO water bottle\, plastic bag (your cloth will be wet for you to take home and dry out)\, small towel. \nFollowing the workshop think about where at home you can lay out a 1.8 x .8 mtr (approx.) cloth flat to dry overnight – a clothes air dryer or dining table is good. \nGetting to the Venue \nThe Djerring Centre is adjacent to the Collingwood Town Hall and the Collingwood Train Station. \nThere is free all day parking on a Sunday along Hoddle Street. Several Buses run along Hoddle St also. \nTo register and and purchase tickets visit https://events.humanitix.com/sacredpapercloth-afterdeathcare \nExpression of Interest for a workshop Mentee \nWe are seeking a heartfelt mentee to support our paper cloth workshop\, facilitated by death educator Bonita Ralph and artist Anzara Clark. \nThis is a unique opportunity for someone working in\, studying\, or training in palliative care\, aged care\, nursing\, allied health\, occupational therapy\, social work\, pastoral or spiritual care or funeral care\, who is interested in deepening their understanding of death literacy\, after-death care\, and creative approaches to end-of-life care. \nAs a mentee\, you’ll work alongside the facilitators throughout the day\, assisting with set-up\, participant support and pack-down\, while observing the workshop process and learning about the role of creativity\, ritual and community in caring for the dead.\nThere will be opportunities to ask questions\, reflect on the experience\, and gain practical insights into facilitating conversations about death and after-death care.\nWe are looking for someone who is: \n\nPassionate about compassionate end-of-life and after-death care.\nCurious\, open to learning\, and interested in death literacy.\nWarm\, reliable and confident supporting participants in a group setting.\nAvailable for the full day\, including set-up and pack-down.\n\nThis mentoring opportunity is ideal for someone wanting to expand their knowledge and confidence in community death care while learning alongside experienced facilitators. Whether you’re looking to integrate these ideas into your professional practice or are exploring this field more deeply\, we’d love to hear from you. \nPlease note\, you will NOT have the opportunity to create your own cloth and if you book a ticket to the workshop and are selected as a mentee\, your fee will be refunded. \nTHANK YOU for your interest and support! \nPlease complete this EOI form if interested in the Mentee role: Expression of Interest – Workshop Mentee – Fill in form \nEOI will close August 20th at 5pm. \nWarmly Bonita & Anzara \n*This event has been subsidised by the Proveda Dying to Know Community Grant. A feedback questionnaire is required to be completed at the end of the workshop. With your consent we will share some images/ video content for them that may be used in media platforms.

Where does the body go?”\n“What types of celebrations can I have? or How can I be loved and remembered. “\n\nSo many other questions\, and some are a lot more personal too. \nIt’s not a counselling space.\nIt’s not a grief group.\nIt’s a welcoming space for people to meet and connect. \nIt’s a space to ask questions\, explore concerns\, apprehension and fears. \nA space to dream of what could be\, and get ideas of what to do\, especially for the funeral/wake/life celebration. \nLet’s face it\, too many people are not comfortable talking about death\, planning their own death or wanting to know more about the life options available to them. \nThere are sooooooooo many ways to do death and farewells.\nYou can design or create anything that aligns with your personality and your wishes.\nYOU need to talk about it and don’t leave your loved ones clueless and guessing!!! \nPlease join us at The Redcliffe Treehouse. Ask all the questions you’re dying to know about. \nTo be honest\, it is a Self-care and loving act for your family and friends\, taking the guesswork out of a very stressful time.  Just think\, it could easily be your last hoora\, and you can plan it down to the smallest detail\, if you choose to.

SUMMARY:Death Cafe by the Bay
DESCRIPTION:FREE A Death Cafe is a safe and relaxed place to gather with people\, often strangers\, to discuss topics related to death and dying. The objective is to engage in interesting\, thought-provoking and life-affirming conversations. This Death Cafe is being held in Victoria Point\, Queensland Australia and facilitated by End of Life Doula & Funeral Celebrant\, Jacqui Williams (Founder of End of Life Transitions). \nYou have the opportunity to purchase your own refreshments at the venue. Go to back deck of venue to find Jacqui and others. Street carparking available \nBring your curiosity. Share your questions and experiences. And be part of a growing death-positive community movement that wants to make people more death-comfortable and death-literate.Free to attend community event. You can buy your own drink and snacks and pay at the cafe register when you leave.
