SUMMARY:Aboriginal Heritage Walk
DESCRIPTION:In the lead up to National Reconciliation Week\, join the Belong Club and Karen Smith from the Aboriginal Heritage Office for an Aboriginal Heritage Walk around Little Manly Point. \nNational Reconciliation Week (NRW) is from 27 May to 3 June. It’s a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories\, cultures\, and achievements\, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. \nThis is a fantastic opportunity to learn about how the Gayamaygal lived in this Country and the stories of their first contact with the First Fleet. Learn about Manly’s unique story of our Aboriginal people in Australian history. \nThis track is an easy walk and is also wheelchair accessible. \nWhat to Bring? \nPlease make sure you wear a hat\, sunscreen\, insect repellant and secure shoes for your own health and safety. Make sure you bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during our walk. \nAbout Host \nThe Aboriginal Heritage Office is an award-winning partnership of six local Sydney Councils working to protect Aboriginal sites and promote Aboriginal history and heritage in each of Councils’ areas. The AHO’s activities are based on three main areas: site management\, Council support and education. \nFind out more here – www.aboriginalheritage.org
