SUMMARY:Ten Things To Know Before You Go
DESCRIPTION:There’s a lot of information out there about planning well and getting our affairs in order. It can be hard to know where to begin! \nThis 2 hour\, in-person workshop by Danni Petkovic (Campaign Manager for Dying to Know) will help you pull it all together and explore end-of-life planning in an engaging\, accessible way. It will leave you feeling confident in knowing what options are right for you and your family\, while recognising the strength of your existing skills and experience. \nOnly 53% of Australians feel able to talk to another family member about end of life. The Ten Things to Know Before You Go workshop gives you the tools for these essential planning conversations to flow easily and productively. \nFrom accessing the legal documents to planning a funeral and understanding palliative care\, this workshop covers all the essentials and helps you navigate ‘what’s next’\, in a relaxed\, supportive learning environment with other people who are looking to plan well. \nPrevious participants have left feeling more empowered with knowledge about navigating different aspects of the end of life system. 80% of participants have reported that they took direct action in end of life planning as a result of the workshop. \nWe will assist you to:  \n\n Plan for the future and ensure your wishes are understood.\n Respond with care when a loved one is grieving.\n Build a support network that prioritises social and emotional wellbeing for end-of-life.\n\nWe will also provide a free afternoon tea afterward\, giving you the opportunity to have a chat with the team at Proveda and other like minded individuals. \nAdditionally\, it’s important to remember that you don’t need to be facing a terminal diagnosis to start planning for end-of-life matters. Preparing in advance can bring peace of mind and ensure that your personal and financial affairs are in order. It’s never too early to make informed decisions\, giving you control over your legacy and easing the burden on your loved ones.   \nJoin us for Ten Things to Know Before You Go to learn more about how to approach these important decisions with confidence.  \n\n

SUMMARY:Ten Things To Know Before You Go
DESCRIPTION:There’s a lot of information out there about planning well and getting our affairs in order. It can be hard to know where to begin! \nIn the lead up to Dying To Know Day\, the team from Belong Club and Dying To Know will run this 2 hour\, online workshop that will help you pull it all together and explore end-of-life planning in an engaging\, accessible way. It will leave you feeling confident in knowing what options are right for you and your family\, whilst recognising the strength of your existing skills and experience. \nWe will assist you to:  \n\n Plan for the future and ensure your wishes are understood.\n Respond with care when a loved one is grieving.\n Build a support network that prioritises social and emotional wellbeing for end-of-life.\n\nAdditionally\, it’s important to remember that you don’t need to be facing a terminal diagnosis to start planning for end-of-life matters. Preparing in advance can bring peace of mind and ensure that your personal and financial affairs are in order. It’s never too early to make informed decisions\, giving you control over your legacy and easing the burden on your loved ones.   \nJoin us for 10 Things to Know Before You Go to learn more about how to approach these important decisions with confidence.  \n\n

SUMMARY:Young Adult Death Cafe
DESCRIPTION:Curious about the big questions in life? Join us at a penthouse in Ultimo\, a 10 minute walk from UTS for a special Death Café event\, exclusively for young adults aged 18-25\, as part of our annual Dying to Know Day campaign. In this open\, respectful\, and confidential space\, you’ll have the opportunity to express your thoughts and feelings about life and death. Facilitated by experienced members of our team\, Carolyn and Jordan\, this event encourages meaningful conversation on mortality\, loss\, and grief over some light refreshments. \nWhether you want to share your experiences\, ask questions or simply listen\, everyone is welcome. Life\, death and everything in between. Connect with other young adults over topics that we all experience but rarely have open conversations about. Refreshments will be provided. \nLet’s come together to break the taboo and build a community where talking about death is a normal and healthy part of life. We look forward to seeing you there! \nNote \nThis event is not a counseling session or support group. It is a space for open discussion and shared experiences.

SUMMARY:Linked to Life - ChiLL
DESCRIPTION:ChiLL is the acronym for Choices in Later Life\, a seminar program that invites participants to explore their options when planning for dying and death. Those who work in this area describe it as the last great taboo. They are concerned that lack of preparation causes unnecessary distress to the dying and leaves the bereaved with extra burdens.  We aim to confront fear and ignorance with information and resources that will better prepare everyone for one of life’s inevitabilities. \n  \nWe go beyond the familiar “making a will” and whether to be “cremated or buried” and introduce the subjects of: \n\nEnduring Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship\nAdvanced Care Planning and How to Assemble an Advanced Care Plan\nHow and where to lodge your Advanced Care Plan\nPreparing the Family and Other Carers\nTo Do List in preparation for Loss of Capacity or Dying\nPalliative Care – What it is and isn’t and how to access it\nWhat happens when someone is dying\nVoluntary Assisted Dying – What it is and isn’t and how to access it\nDeath Doula services including Local Resources\nOrgan Donation\nFuneral Planning and How to Celebrate a Life\nGetting on with your life after the Death of a Partner\nBereavement and Bereavement Resources\n\nThe emphasis throughout is about how to access the resources\, services and people that assist in these tasks.

SUMMARY:Dying To Know Day 2024 | Tender Funerals Mid North Coast
DESCRIPTION:Dying To Know Day is an annual campaign to bring awareness to conversations around death and planning ahead. \nWe all agree that everyone’s life is touched by death as some point. It might be your own death on the horizon\, or it might be the death of someone else in your life. We can best navigate death when we know what to do. \nPart of our work here at Tender Funerals Mid North Coast\, is supporting you with ways to have conversations with the important people in your life so that you can plan ahead. \nPlan a funeral that is affordable AND beautiful! \nAt Tender Funerals MNC\, we understand that “One size does not fit all”. Join us at the Anglican Church Hall\, 25 Marsh Street\, West Kempsey\, for an event that will include a panel discussion involving end-of-life experts and a Q&A session with the audience\, all designed to demystify the true costs of funerals and identify affordable approaches in end-of-life planning. \nWe’ve designed this event specifically for community members who are concerned with how much their death will cost family they leave behind. Attendees will learn how to plan a funeral that is both affordable AND beautiful\, as well as how to save in advance for their funeral. \nThis is what we do best\, and we want to share all the possibilities with you. We’d love to see you there!
