DESCRIPTION:The Compassionate Connector Program is a unique program that connects volunteers – Connectors – with people in the community who are over 65 living with life changing illness. As a connector you will emotionally support and help build social networks with your person\, as well as family and friends around them. This is a little different to traditional volunteering\, as an essential part of your support is to find additional supports in the persons community. This can be connecting with a neighbour\, helping connect with formal services\, or arranging for help in the persons existing network with everyday tasks like getting to appointments etc.   \nBecause of the unique character of this volunteering program\, in order to become a Connector\, the first step is to participate in our very enjoyable quality training before we match you with a participant. This training is complimentary and helps prepare you for the Connector experience. Importantly\, it also allows you to meet others like-minded and is the start of the ongoing support Proveda offers throughout your Connector experience.   \n  \nWhen: Friday 24th April (10.30AM – 5.30PM) \nWhere:  Hornsby Library \n\n  \nWhat previous participants say  \n“Thoroughly enjoyed the day. DESCRIPTION:Join the Compassionate Connector Program!\nDuring 2026 we will be rolling out a unique end of life volunteer program in the Hornsby area. We are one year into the Program with some volunteers (called Compassionate Connectors) already on the Northern Beaches. The program builds on a model from Western Australia with promising evidence of its’ benefits. \nJoin this interactive information session to find out more about this Program that helps us live at home\, well connected and in our communities for longer. \nIn this session\, we will also introduce the concept Compassionate Communities and ask ourselves questions such as: \n\nHow important is it to care for one another as we get older?\nHow can social and informal support better compliment medical care?\nIs it rewarding to be helpful?\nWhat is each one of our roles in this and how would you like to be involved?\n\nThis session is for anyone interested in having a conversation about things that support us to live well in the end. There is no pressure to join the Program. \nWhen: Wednesday February 18th 2026\, 10.30AM – Noon \nWhere: Hornsby Library \nWhen we are socially connected\, we are happier\, physically healthier and live longer.
