SUMMARY:Compassionate Connector Training - July 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Compassionate Connector Program is a unique program that connects volunteers – Connectors – with people in the community who are over 65 living with life changing illness. As a connector you will emotionally support and help build social networks with your person\, as well as family and friends around them. This is a little different to traditional volunteering\, as an essential part of your support is to find additional supports in the persons community. This can be connecting with a neighbour\, helping connect with formal services\, or arranging for help in the persons existing network with everyday tasks like getting to appointments etc.   \nBecause of the unique character of this volunteering program\, in order to become a Connector\, the first step is to participate in our very enjoyable quality training before we match you with a participant. This training is complimentary and helps prepare you for the Connector experience. Importantly\, it also allows you to meet others like-minded and is the start of the ongoing support Proveda offers throughout your Connector experience.   \n  \nWhen: Tuesday 29th July (6pm-9pm) – Wednesday\, 30th July (9am – 4.30pm) \nWhere:  Newport Community Centre\, 11-13 The Boulevard\, Newport \n\n  \nWhat previous participants say  \n“Thoroughly enjoyed the day. How have your death experiences shaped your life? \nJoin us for our ‘DYING TO KNOW DAY’ community event that will bring us together to demystify death and dying.  Let’s open up the difficult and somewhat avoided end of life conversations that are so needed. \nWe will look at beliefs\, provide real education\, and breakdown how we can improve the relationship with our own mortality. \nWhether you are preparing for the death of someone close to you\, planning for your own end of life\, or want to take a deep dive into what the options may look like\, please join us for our free morning tea event. \nYou will be supported on the day by your end of life community.
