Compassionate Communities Café – Blackall, QLD

“Talk, Share, Learn”

Compassionate Communities is a practice that openly encourages, supports and celebrates caring for each other during life’s most testing times, especially those associated with life threatening or life limiting illness, chronic disability, being a carer, frailty, ageing, dementia, dying and grief.

This is the community’s responsibility, that’s me, you, all individuals, families, peers, neighbourhoods, workplaces, schools, health services, government, faith based, voluntary and other organisations and services

What to expect at a Compassionate Communities cafe

There is no agenda at the cafe! just bring yourselves and we will let the informal conversations unfold.

Come and share a story, listen and ponder, or ask a question and let’s learn from one another!

Compassionate Community events are FREE and they are open to the public – come and bring a friend!

Please Note: This event may not be suitable for those experiencing a more recent bereavement.

What is Dying to Know Day?

Dying to Know Day is a national campaign that culminates annually on August 8 each year. Throughout August, events are held around the country to help Australians normalise conversations around death and dying and to better plan for end of life. We encourage conversations about the end of life, whether they are in the home or in community! Not only to improve knowledge around choices for end of life care and support, but to build fellowship. Have the ‘tough conversations’ now, to reduce the anguish, distress and grief experienced by loved ones later. And take action, thoughtful action, to start the process to ‘get dead set.’
