Join us for a fun-filled morning, walking and exploring the beautiful Long Reef headland! Lace up your sneakers and get ready to soak in the stunning coastal views and fresh ocean breeze.
The group will meet every Monday at 9 am on the grass at the southern side of the Long Reef Golf Club. We will head eastbound along the paved path toward the headland. There is a slight incline which is worth it for the view. Once we reach the top, we can soak in the spectacular view and with any luck, we may see bird life, hang gliders, dolphins, and whales. We will continue along the trail atop the coastal cliffs toward Long Reef Beach. Once the trail reaches the beach, we will stop for coffee at Butterbox Cafe, before continuing our walk along a wooden boardwalk through the bushland. The path will take us through to Griffith Park where we will finish our walk back at our starting point.
Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just starting out, this event is perfect for all fitness levels. The track is an easy walk with a slight incline at the beginning. It’s a 3 km circuit and should take about 1-1.5 hours.
Don’t forget to bring your water bottle, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes.
Join the Long Reef Walking Group and let’s make unforgettable memories together. See you there!
Weather, safety and responsibility
It is important that you make your own decisions regarding your comfort and safety. This is particularly relevant to weather and walk suitability. The decision to undertake the event is at your discretion and by registering for the event you deem yourself fit and capable of safely participating in the event.
For example, some might be comfortable walking in light rain with a rain jacket, others may be less comfortable due to the lower visibility or increased slipping hazard. In poor weather days there may only be one or two people who show up to complete that week’s walk. The decision to do the walk is left to personal choice.
However, if we meet up and decide that the walk will be no fun, the backup plan is to go for a coffee at a local cafe!
Parking
There is plenty of parking along Anzac Ave. Please check parking rules before leaving your car.
