Demystifying Death: Inside the Coffin
Have you ever contemplated your own death? Or your own funeral? Have you ever listened to a eulogy and wondered what your loved ones will say about you?
These questions might feel scary or uncomfortable, but for some contemplating the end can be the beginning of a new kind of freedom. Demystifying Death: Inside the Coffin is an interactive experience that welcomes ideas and discussion around our own death and invites the participants to ‘go inside’ the coffin both figuratively and literally. It invites the question, “If death is inevitable, how can it inspire us to live?”
Facilitated by three experienced deathcare professionals, our sessions will include meditation, reflection and writing, the opportunity to lie in a coffin, and a burning ritual to bring us back to a place of warmth and life. Just as funerals are followed by a gathering or ‘wake’, participants are invited to stay for tea & coffee and debrief with the facilitators and discuss their experience.
Demystifying Death: Inside the Coffin aims to leave participants feeling empowered, informed and inspired – ready to view death not as a sentence, but to welcome it as a distant friend they will one day meet, not with fear but with acceptance.
Participation is always your choice. You’re welcome to observe, reflect, or take part in whichever activities feel comfortable for you.
When booking please notify us of any dietary requirements and accessibility needs.
