Belong Yoga Classes

We’re excited to introduce new weekly yoga classes at the North Balgowlah Community Centre, proudly supported by a generous grant from Dee Why RSL.

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or have never stepped on a mat before, these sessions are for everyone. No experience is necessary, our incredible volunteer instructors, sourced through Power Living Yoga Australia, are here to guide you at your own pace and tailor the class to your needs.

What to Bring:

  • A yoga mat
  • A bottle of water
  • Comfortable clothing
  • And most importantly, a positive attitude!

Come along to stretch, strengthen, and connect with your community in a supportive and inclusive environment. We can’t wait to see you there.

About our Instructors

Lynne Johnston

Lynne is a northern beaches based yoga teacher sharing gentle, accessible yoga with the Belong Club. With a heart for community connection and wellbeing, Lynne understands that yoga is more than physical postures, it’s breathing, kindness, and moving in ways that feel good. Trained in yinvasa, yin and yoga nidra, Lynne’s classes at the Belong Club will focus on slow mindful flow, simple strength, and deep relaxation, welcoming all levels, especially those seeking gentle support for body, mind and spirit.

Joe Lewis

Joe became a yoga teacher after discovering the physical benefits for his bones and joints, particularly his back and knees, and the mental “side” effects of stress relief and clarity. Having completed 200-hour teacher training in San Marcos, Guatemala, yoga became his practice for cultivating emotional and spiritual wellbeing, too.

He guides styles of vinyasa and hatha yoga in which we listen to and honour the body, tuning into our intuition and awareness and using techniques to—literally—unwind the mind. His classes contain a blend of movement and stillness, strength and surrender, to nourish the body and work towards a deeper presence.

Sue Barbour

Sue, the founder of Pure Wellness Yoga has completed 600 hours of training with the Himalayan Yoga Tradition. Sue teaches an integrated practice which includes, centering, basic relaxations, correct breathing, breath awareness with asanas, and subtle-body practices of relaxation, pranayama and deep relaxation. She is trained and has experience in yoga for arthritis and chair yoga for seniors. The focus is not performance, it’s about being in tune with your capabilities and slowing down, feeling what’s happening in your body.
