H&I: Handling the Transition of Ageing
To grow older means to experience many life changes. These changes can be developmental (changes that occur over time), situational (changes that relate to a set of circumstances) or connected to health and illness. All of these changes can also be thought of as life transitions.
W hat will the Team at Rebound Health Cover?
Exercise Physiologist , Ben will cover:
- Physical changes – loss of muscle mass, changes to balance / mobility – why this occurs, what you can do about it
- Hormone changes for both men and women
- Bone health and ageing
- Why you don’t have to ‘slow down’ as you get older
- Life stage – how it is different to other life stages – work might cease, time for hobbies / activity, why social interactions and connectedness is important to maintain
Dietitian , Emma will cover:
- Calcium for bone health
- Changing protein needs for muscle health
- Nutrition and menopause
- Food and mood for mental health
Occupational Therapist , Caris will cover:
- Mental health and how to find purpose
- Home safety and reducing falls risk
Meet the Hosts
Ben
Ben is an exercise physiologist at Rebound Health. He specialises in exercise for healthy ageing, as well as youth, and neurodivergence. He is committed to helping people achieve the best version of themselves with physical activity and movement. The best part of the job for Ben, is seeing people leave with big smiles.
Emma
Emma is a Dietitian at Rebound Health who enjoys seeing a range of individuals from pediatrics right through to aged care. Emma has special areas of interest in pediatrics and the nutrition management of eating disorders. She is passionate about the role nutrition can play in improving our physical health, mental health, gut health, overall wellbeing, and chronic disease risk and management.
Caris
Caris graduated from Sheffield Hallam University (UK) and has a background in neurorehabilitation and acute surgical/cardiorespiratory care. Caris is excited to bring her expertise to Australia and explore new specialties and healthcare systems while sharing international best practices. Her passion lies in neurology, particularly brain injury and dementia care, and is committed to providing top-notch support to her clients.
