WINGS of Hope

WINGS of Hope Annual Memorial Gathering to Remember those Loved and Lost
As part of the global initiative “International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day,” we join other gatherings worldwide who are supporting those that have lost a loved one. Remembrance for the International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day (initiated in the United States) is held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving (22 November), Proveda hosts a special memorial gathering at the Balmoral Headland in Mosman, Sydney.
This special event is now heading into its 15th year, and is an opportunity for families to support each other in their grief and remember those loved and lost. It is an opportunity to meet with others who have the same lived experience in a casual and informal setting. Morning tea is provided, and the gathering is hosted by an experienced team from Proveda. Our gathering serves as a poignant reminder that no one needs to face this journey alone and aims to inspire hope.

Volunteer Supports People Living with the Experience of Suicide
Research on the human impact of suicide bereavement, indicates that one hundred and thirty-five people are impacted, and of these, ten are impacted more significantly. It is for this reason, Proveda is committed to supporting ill mental health in a range of areas, and we have a special focus to bring attention to the personal difficulties from experiences of suicide.
An experience of suicide can leave people feeling more vulnerable and isolated, and as part of our community programs, we have volunteers who are familiar with supporting people in these situations. Make sure you speak to us and if we can assist, we will. Our volunteering page also outlines what we do, and how you can benefit from our other activities, including becoming part of our Belong Club.
Note: ‘Experiencing suicide’ means having suicidal thoughts, surviving a suicide attempt, loving, or caring for someone who has also experienced this, being bereaved by suicide, or being personally touched by it in another way.
