Nillumbik Dying To Know Day 2026
Nillumbik Shire Council’s Ageing Well Team has partnered with Northern Health Advance Care Planning and Banksia Palliative Care to host this community forum in recognition of Dying To Know Day.
Dying To Know Day encourages all Australians to develop knowledge, skills and confidence around death, dying and bereavement – and to support one another at the end of life.
Our forum will be guided by MC Baci Hillyer, who will facilitate discussion, guide audience questions, and support respectful and meaningful conversations throughout the evening.
You will hear from local and topic experts in the field of death and dying, end-of-life care and planning, including:
- Northern Health Advance Care Planning
- Donate Life, educating on organ donation
- Banksia Palliative Care, local provider of community palliative care services both in-home and in a residential care setting
- Dr Nick Carr, Dying with Dignity Voluntary Assisted Dying
- Catherine Ashton, Author and Podcaster “Don’t Be Caught Dead”
- Le Pine Funerals Eltham explaining Pre-paid funeral options
- Nillumbik Shire Council Aged Care Navigation and Advocacy Officer, presenting on the Support at Home End-of-Life pathway
Join us as an active participant or simply sit and listen as others share experiences and perspectives. This forum aims to broaden understanding, spark curiosity, and normalise conversations around death as a part of our (infinite) life.
Participants are encouraged to ask questions of our expert panel in this respectful and supportive environment, helping to build confidence and understanding around death, dying and end‑of‑life choices.
Please submit your questions on registration so that our panel can review these in planning for their presentations.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask further questions at the event.
Registration is essential through Humanitix or the Ageing Well team
