🎭 Cark It Café: Destination Death – The Final Stop: Event 4 of 4 Hosted by Jewelz the Hoola Doola of Cark It Café
All aboard for the final leg of this creative journey into mortality — no passport required!
We come full circle… we have covered so many important topics and hopefully your “Destination Death Folders” are complete. Let us celebrate!
Hosted by Jewelz — the Hoola Doola of Destination Death — is a queer multidisciplinary artist, performer, and death doula using storytelling, art, and humour to open up essential conversations around dying, death, and end-of-life planning. With a rich background as a travel planner, tour leader, hoopologist, and educator, Jewelz now leads transformative explorations into mortality through Cark It Café: Creative Conversations on Death & Dying for LGBTIQ+.
These inclusive events have woven together memento mori-inspired workshops, poetry, music, movement, art, and dialogue to help participants plan for the inevitable with openness, curiosity, and care — reducing fear and building brave, Compassionate Communities.
🕘️ Final Event Highlights
We’ve art-ed, poetry-ed, woven, danced, and sung — now it’s time to celebrate!
Join us for a vibrant afternoon and early evening of creativity and community as we:
- Showcase artworks and memento mori creations from the past 3 events, curated by Gillian Wright and exhibited alongside works by other queer artists
Feature performances by:
- 🎶 Cassy Judy – comedy queen, singer-songwriter & legal aid lawyer
- 💃 Diane Busuttil – movement artist and dance theatre provocateur
- 💃 Jewelz A Hoopz – performer, death doula, Hoola Doola extraordinaire
- ✍️ Pixie Willo – queer poet & creative arts therapist
Exhibit creative responses from workshops with:
- 🎨 Emmie Murphy – Memento Mori art workshop
- 📝 Pixie Willo – Death Slam poetry workshop
- 🎶 Cassy Judy – Songwriting and music with heart and hilarity
- 💃 Diane Busuttil – Danse Macabre movement workshop
- 🧶 Jewelz A Hoopz – Heart Hoop weaving
And bring it all home with live music, creative installations, and maybe a few cheeky surprises…
🎥 This event will be filmed by Jax North of North Productions, who is a Curator and Creative Producer of exhibitions, events, film, and immersive light art.
This grand finale is both a celebration and a call to action — a space to honour life, embrace death, and keep the conversation going.
