Compassionate Communities Grant Program

Proveda Foundation Grant Program

The Grant Program empowers smaller organisations to grow their own impact, which, in turn, benefits the community on a broader and wider scale. The support we provide helps them to grow capability and capacity, which, ultimately benefits us all.

What is the Grants Program?

Each year, the Proveda Foundation opens a grant round with a specific theme. Our 2024 theme was Compassionate Communities with a focus on those bereaved by suicide. While our focus changes every year, our purpose remains the same: to empower local Northern Sydney grassroots organisations.

2024 Grant Round Results

We are thrilled to announce the 2024 Compassionate Communities grant recipients:

Grief Garments

Proveda Foundation’s Grant Round #5 will fund Grief Garments by Dr. Pia Interlandi, a project supporting individuals bereaved by suicide in creating wearable tributes. Participants bring a cherished garment, share stories, and work with facilitators to transform the piece using decorative techniques. The project culminates in a public exhibition and panel discussion, showcasing the garments as symbols of grief and resilience.

National Centre for Childhood Grief

The NCCG offers grief and bereavement services to children aged 3-17 and their families. Proveda Foundation will fund a project to trial new counselling strategies for children impacted by close family suicide. The NCCG team will be trained in these strategies and trial them with 10 bereaved children and their families in Northern Sydney. Each child will receive 3 free specialist counselling sessions and access to group programs, while parents and carers will receive one free counselling session, one family group session, and ongoing support.

Postvention Australia

Postvention Australia, a national not-for-profit, will receive funding from Proveda Foundation's Grant Round #5 for an online education program. This program will address suicidality in the bereaved community, focusing on safety. It will educate "Gatekeepers" like teachers and religious leaders on supporting those bereaved by suicide, discussing loss, grief, trauma, fears, and stigma, and promoting sensitive discussions and reporting.
